An individual who has been acting as a landlord for DHSS tenants over the last 10 years had fallen into arrears with self-assessment forms and other creditors. This totalled an amount of £140,000.
We came in at the stage where the individual had been served with Stat Demand and the end seemed close. We went over the paperwork and proved to HMRC their estimates were incorrect and also found that a previous NHS authority had not made VAT payments in line with the new rules at that time, following lengthy negotiations we came to an agreement with all creditors, resulting in a nil payment to the revenue and reducing the debt by £100,000 . We then looked to see how the client was now going to turn the current situation into a profitable scenario to prevent it happening again. This was achieved by renovating and a review of the current tenants.
